Mount Everett's Diego Cruz Wins Tourney Title

WESTERLY, R.I. -- Mount Everett's Diego Cruz Saturday went 3-0 with three pins to win the 106-pound title at the Chad Antoch Memorial Tournament.
 
Cruz pinned Scituate's Robert Newton in 1 minute, 31 seconds, to win the title bout.
 
The Mount Everett grappler ended all three of his matches in the first round.
 
At 126 pounds, Mount Everett's Tyler Candelari placed second.
 
Candelari reached the final with three pins, including a nine-second stop in the quarter-finals, but was pinned in the second round of the title bout by Coventry's Stone Farnsworth.
 
Mount Everett earned 76 points to place ninth out of 17 teams at the event. Central High School of Providence won the team title with 194 points.
