Amherst Uses Strong Start to Top Mount Everett

AMHERST, Mass. — Jake Balderston scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Amherst hockey team to a 7-3 win over Mount Everett on Saturday.

The Hurricanes jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one period and led 6-0 going into the third before Mount Everett rallied.

 

“This was a tough two game stretch for us against Wahconah on Thursday and then Amherst today, they will probably the first two seeds in the Western Mass Tournament,” Mount Everett coach Aidan Gilligan said. “I was glad that our team bounced back in the third and showed some fight.”

 

Grayson Duval, Brendan Dempsey and Jake Corcoran each scored a goal for Mount Everett in the third. Max Joyner had two assists for the Eagles.

 

Jonah Swotes stopped 29 shots for Mount Everett, which was outshot 36-22.
