Taconic's Burke and Powell Each Bow Out in New England Wrestling Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Taconic wrestlers Dylan Burke and Zabion Powell Saturday each lost his second match in the consolation bracket at the New England High School Championships.
 
Powell fell, 14-3, to Jacob Cardozo of Southington, Conn., in their 145-pound wrestleback match.
 
Burke was edged, 7-5, in the 182 consolation bracket by Spencer Fetrow of Holliston, Mass.
 
Each Taconic wrestler went 1-2 at the two-day event at the Providence Career and Technical Center.
 
The event was won by Danbury, Conn., with 88.5 points, 17 points ahead of runner-up Bishop Hendricksen of Warwick, R.I.
 
Springfield Central placed fifth with 55 points and brought an individual title back to Western Massachusetts when Cesar Alvan took first at 160 pounds. Mount Anthony Union of Bennington, Vt., placed 10th with 43 points.
