Taconic's O'Shea, Burke Advance at Lowell Tournament

LOWELL, Mass. -- Taconic’s Shawn O’Shea and Dylan Burke each are alive in the main draw after one day at the George Bossi Holiday Tournament at the Tsongas Center.
 
Taconic is in 14th place out of 80 schools at the two-day tourney. It has 66 points. Concord, N.H., leads the way with 96.5 points, just ahead of second-place Springfield Central and Timberlane, N.H., with 89 points apiece. Mount Anthony Union of Bennington, Vt., is in fourth with 88.5 points.
 
O’Shea at 195 pounds started his day with a 2-1 win over Nashua, N.H.’s, Tyler Griffen. He then pinned Justin Quinton of Westford Academy to reach Saturday’s quarter-finals.
 
At 182, Burke started Friday with a pin of Taunton’s Peter Ye. He then outpointed Timberlane’s Cooper Kelly, 5-1.
 
In addition to the two competitors in the main draw, Taconic has three wrestlers alive in the consolations: Mike LaFreniere at 132, Mike Puskey at 170 and Eric Packard at 220.
