Taconic Wrestlers Undefeated in County, Set to Host Sectional

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Taconic wrestling team is entering this Saturday's Western Massachusetts Division 3 Championship on a roll after going 4-0 in dual meets on Saturday at Monument Mountain.
 
Taconic beat the host Spartans, 63-18, to finish the winter 6-0 atop the Berkshire County League standings.
 
It also defeated Frontier (63-12), Southwick (57-18) and Mahar (60-18) to finish the season 15-1 in dual meet competition.
 
Taconic's only dual meet loss this winter came against 2021 Western Mass Division 1 champion Minnechaug.
 
On Saturday in Great Barrington, Taconic had seven wrestlers go 4-0 in the duals: West Dews at 113 pounds, Owen Brennan at 132, Louis Rhodes at 145, Noah Poirier at 152, Broc Healey at 160, Ben West 15 170 and Keishon Martin at 285.
 
Joe LaFrenier (182) and Ethan Nicholls (195) each went 3-1 on Saturday.
 
This Saturday, Taconic will host the Western Mass sectional at Wahconah High School with matches starting at 10 a.m. and continuing all day.
