PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Nyashia Daniels served eight aces Monday to lead the Taconic volleyball team to a three-set win over Pittsfield on Senior Night for the Thunder.

Daniels also recorded five kills and a pair of blocks in the 25-22, 25-17, 25-21 win.

“The Senior Night was full of celebration and tears as we both praised our five seniors for their hard work, great efforts, attitudes and friendship, which also made us realize how much we're going to miss them next year,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said.

“We struggled a little in the first set to shake off the emotions that we stirred up before the match began, but we were able to pull it out with a 25-22 victory.”

Brenna McNeice pulled up 11 digs and passed out 12 assists. Ciana Bennett had 10 serve receives and five digs.

Naomi Tayi recorded a pair of kills, and Jadyn Galliher had two kills to go with four aces, three digs and seven serve receives.

“Natalia Dos Santos and Ruby Robertson each had nearly impossible digs to help keep the team fired up, and defensive specialist Masiah Thompson came off the bench in the second and third set to rack up three aces in limited court time,” Fyfe said.

Taconic (9-2) goes to Monument Mountain on Thursday.
