McLaughlin Leads Wahconah Golfers to Opening Day Win
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Sam McLaughlin fired three birdies to finish at 1-under 34 Monday in leading the Wahconah High golf team to a 158-166 win over Taconic at Berkshire HIlls Country Club.
McLaughlin birdied the par-4 sixth hole, and back-to-back par-4s on Nos. 8 and 9 to end his day four strokes ahead of the field and take medalist honors.
His teammates Lokan Aitken and Kesler Anello carded rounds of 38 and 39, respectively.
Taconic was led by Charley Driscoll with a 40. The Thunder’s Jason Fields, Ethan Bishop and Christian Barry each finished at 42.
Taconic (0-1) goes to Lenox on Thursday.
Wahconah (1-0) hosts Mount Greylock on Sept. 2.
