Hoosac Valley Golfers Qualify for Western Mass

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Zach Mongeon carded a 43 on the front nine at Wyantenuck Country Club Wednesday to lead the Hoosac Valley golf team to a pair of wins in a tri-match against Monument Mountain and Mount Everett.
 
With the wins, Hoosac Valley qualified for the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.
 
Mongeon birdied the par-3 seventh hole and par-4 ninth to tie the Spartans’ Liam Trask for medalist honors.
 
Trask finished his day with an eagle on the ninth hole and helped Monument Mountain split its matches with a win over Mount Everett.
 
The Eagles’ Fin Vion also eagled the ninth hole, which gave up four sub-par scores in the tri-match. Hoosac Valley’s Frank Field also birdied the finishing hole.
