Hoosac's Haley, Lenox's Meisberger Shine at Three-Team Meet

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Jared Haley was a triple winner Friday to lead the Hoosac Valley boys track team to a win over Lenox and tie with Taconic in a three-team meet at Monument Mountain.

Lenox girls earned a pair of wins, topping Hoosac and Taconic, behind a strong day from Shannon Meisberger.

Haley won the mile in 4 minutes, 47.3 seconds, the two-mile (10:29.9) and the javelin (124 feet, 6 inches).

Hoosac’s Peter Barrow won two events in the throws: the shot put (41-6) and the discus (122-11) as the Hurricanes defeated Lenox, 80-52, and tied Taconic, 70-70.

For Taconic, which beat Lenox, 91-31, David Benle won the 100 (11.9) and the 400 (53.7).

Lenox’s Tyler Shepard won the high jump, clearing 5-6.

In the girls meet, Lenox’s Meisberger swept the hurdles, winning the 110 in 17.3 and the 400 in 1:08.2. In the field, she won the long jump (15-7) and the high jump (4-8).

The Lenox girls defeated Taconic, 99-41, and Hoosac Valley, 79-62. Hoosac’s girls beat Taconic, 58-28.

For Hoosac, Ellie Field won the 100 (13.9), ran a leg on Hoosac’s winning 4-by-100 relay and placed second in the long jump behind Meisberger.

Taconic’s Lily Lobovits won the shot put (29-1-¼) and the javelin (71-3).
