PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Alex White rolled a 279, and the Wahconah bowling team edged McCann Tech in their Baker format match as Wahconah took the first point allowed by the Hornets this season in Friday's Berkshire County High School Bowling League action at Ken's Bowl.

White had the day's top game and the day's top series, a 524, and Wahconah moved into a second place tie with Pittsfield after dropping a 2-1 decision to first place McCann Tech.

McCann continues to lead the league with a record of 17-1. Each week, teams go head-to-head with three league standings points at stake; McCann came into Week 6 with a perfect record of 15-0.

McCann Tech's Alesia Yeaton had the day's best game (208) and best series (367) among the girls, and the Hornets' Brandon Vallone was second best overall Friday with a 269 game and 515 series.

White, who earlier this month rolled a 300 in his house league, was backed up by Amber Wood, who posted a 341 series.

Pittsfield, bounced back from a Week 5 loss to McCann Tech with a 3-0 win over Lee. The one-two punch of A.J. Moore and Nick Puntin was too much for the Wildcats.

Moore rolled a 237-220--457, and Puntin posted a 234-210--444, the third and fourth best scores in the league all day, respectively.

Mount Everett and Drury were the day's other two winners.

The Eagles swept Taconic, 3-0, despite a 361 series (184-177) from Taconic's Alexis Hamel.

Drury topped Mount Greylock, 3-0, as the Blue Devils' Kaitlyn Mongeon rolled the day's second-best game among the girls, a 190.

The league rolls south on Friday for matches at Cove Lanes. McCann Tech will face Lee, and Pittsfield will take on Wahconah.

League standings through Week 6: 1. McCann Tech 17-1; 2. Pittsfield 15-3; 2. Wahconah 15-3; 4. Lee 13-5; 5. Drury 6-12; 6. Mount Everett 3-15; 7. Mount Greylock 3-15; 8. Taconic 0-18.
