Wahconah Girls Swimmers Tie, Boys Win Against New Lebanon

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Amelia Bergquist and Ashleee Davis each won a pair of races Wednesday to help the Wahconah girls swim team earn an 82-82 tie against New Lebanon, N.Y., at the YMCA.
 
The Wahconah boys won, 96-60, behind double-winners Jacob Kunzmann, Zach Archambault and Fred Sears.
 
Bergquist won the 50-meter freestyle in 32.55 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:36.38.
 
Davis won the 100 freestyle (1:18.16) and the 200 free (2:58.48).
 
Davis and Bergquist also swam on a pair of winning relays for Wahconah, the medley relay and the 200 free.
 
New Lebanon’s Alex Sotek won the 100 free (1:10.43) and the 100 back (1:12.62).
 
The Wahconah girls improved to 1-5-1 with the tie.
 
In the boys meet, Kunzmann won the 200 free (2:29.21) and 100 back (1:14.12). Sears took the 100 free (1:03.09) and 500 free (5:19.84). Archambault won the 50 free (30.59) and 100 breaststroke (1:34.97).
 
New Lebanon finished the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay (5:21.43).
 
Wahconah’s boys (4-3) and girls are at Taconic on Jan. 17.
