Wahconah Girls, Mount Greylock Boys Ski to Victories
DALTON, Mass. -- Vienna Mahar led four Wahconah girls in the top five Sunday as their team placed first in the second meet of the season.
Mahar crossed the finish line in 23 minutes, 13 seconds, to finish second behind Mohawk Trail's Sylvie Mahon-Moore (22:51).
The next three players across all wore Wahconah blue as Quinn Walton, Olvia Langenheim and Jocelyn Sommers placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively, to give Wahconah 14 points, 26 points ahead of the rest of the field.
In Sunday's boys race, Mount Greylock edged Wahconah by six points for the team win behind a first-place finish by Quinn McDermott.
McDermott finished in 16:59, 39 seconds ahead of runner-up Fritz Sanders of Wahconah.
Jude Bakija and Teague Murphy placed fourth and seventh, respectively, to help the Mounties finish with 23 points in the team standings.
Wahconah got top-10 finishes from Brennan Anderson, Aidan Garcia and Scott Duma.
Next week, the Berkshire County Nordic League heads to Mount Greylock for a Saturday race.
