LONGMEADOW, Mass. -- Wahconah senior Colette Basiliere Thursday carded a 6-over-par round of 78 to win the Western Massachusetts girls golf individual championship at Franconia Golf Course.

Basiliere recorded three birdies and shot a 36 on the back nine en route to the win.

“This was a season’s best, and it came at the right time,” Wahconah coach Pete Terpak said. “[Basiliere] has worked extremely hard the past four years, and she will be missed at the conclusion of this year’s golf season.

“Colette is a prime example of what hard work and dedication can produce. I’m very proud of her … and in true captain’s fashion, she was rushing home to support her team at Pontoosuc Lake Country Club as it tried to secure a Western Mass berth [against St. Joseph].”

Basiliere’s teammates gave her her second victory of the day when they topped St. Joe, 170-216, to qualify for the tourney.
