Sheppard Leads Mount Greylock Volleyball to Straight-Sets Win

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Lucy Sheppard had 12 kills Monday to lead the Mount Greylock volleyball team to a 25-16, 25-12, 25-20 win over Monument Mountain.
 
Alyssa Phelps recorded five aces and three digs, and Marley Buffis had nine digs for the Mounties. Maddie Albert provided 23 assists to go with three kills and three digs.
 
'Monument is a relatively young team and really did a great job digging us all night," Mount Greylock coach Greg Geyer said. "They are also one of the most sportsmanlike teams in the county who play well together and are very unified."
 
Mount Greylock pulled away in a close third set after kills by Seppard and Buffis sealed the victory.
 
Ali Hiller had 10 digs, three kills, two aces and two blocks for the Spartans. Marley Zorn helped Monument's cause with seven digs and four kills.
 
Monument Mountain goes to Wahconah and Mount Greylock hosts Mount Anthony on Wednesday.
