Pittsfield Boys, Mount Greylock Girls Win on Tennis Courts

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock girls tennis team swept Pittsfield, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon with five two-set victories.
 
In the boys match, Brian Lavinio battled to a three-set victory as the Generals earned a 3-2 win.
 
The first doubles tandem of Josie Dalsin and Olivia Winters cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win.
 
Ava Simon and Piper Schulman held up their end at second doubles, winning 6-2, 6-0.
 
At the top of the ladder, Mia VanDeurzen won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 7-5. Hannah Gilooly and Charlotte Sanford were victorious at second and third singles, respectively.
 
Pittsfield’s boys got wins from Lavinio and Cole Maseiro at second and third singles, respectively, and Bryan Brophy and Gary Zheng at second doubles.
 
Lavinio outlasted Mount Greylock’s Gabe Gerry for a 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) victory at No. 2. Masiero won, 6-4, 6-3.
 
Brophy and Zheng prevailed, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles.
 
The Mounties got a win at first singles from Jacob Fink, who edged Adam Quinto, 6-4, 7-5.
 
At first doubles, Mount Greylock’s Finn Carothers and Ryan Narey won in a third-set tie-breaker against Liam Fitzgibbons and Andrew King.
 
Pittsfield goes to Mount Everett on Friday. Mount Greylock is at Lenox on Monday.
