Mad About Track: Albert, Ross Combine for Seven Wins for Mounties Girls

DALTON, Mass. -- Tyler Olds swept the Hurdles Thursday to lead the Wahconah boys track and field team to a 73-68 win over Mount Greylock.
 
That was the closest outcome of the six boys and six girls dual meets contested at Wahconah High.
 
The Mount Greylock duo of Madison Ross and Maddie Albert ensured that none of their team's dual scores were close.
 
Olds took the 110 hurdles in 17.37 seconds and the 400 hurdles in 1:03.61.
 
Wahconah’s boys also got wins from Shea McIlquham in the long jump (18 feet, 3 inches), Jack Pudlo in the triple jump (38-6), Ethan Fusini in the shot put (36-8) and Fred Sears in the javelin (130-3).
 
Mount Greylock’s boys had a couple of double winners on the track: Josh Cheung in the 800 (2:03.80) and 1600 (4:40.97) and Theo Sandstrom in the 200 (24.88) and 400 (54.99).
 
Mount Greylock’s girls rolled to three dual meet wins, beating Drury, Monument Mountain and Wahconah.
 
Ross won four events: the 100 (13.06), high jump (4-10), long jump (17-3.25) and triple jump (36-00.5).
 
Albert won three: the 200 (27.72), 400 hurdles (1:10.66) and shot put (28-1).
 
Monument Mountain’s Grace Phair won the 1600 (5:25.38) and placed second in the 800 to Wahconah’s Haley Crosier (2:34.26).
 
Drury got a win from Laura Thomas in the javelin with a throw of 90-3.
