Pittsfield Boys, Mount Greylock Girls Finish Dual Season Unbeaten

DALTON, Mass. — Pittsfield's Sam Higuera and Mount Greylock's Madison Ross led their teams to season-ending wins to complete perfect dual meet seasons on Wednesday at Wahconah Regional High School.
 
Ross continued her dominant season with victories in the 100 meter dash (13.37 seconds), high jump (school record 4 feet, 10 inches), long jump (16-6) and triple jump (33-1).
 
Mountie Caroline Hadley was a triple winner, sweeping the throws with victories in the shot put (28-5), discus (91-2) and javelin (92-11).
 
Those victories helped the Mount Greylock girls finish their perfect season with a dual meet win over PHS.
 
Higuera and the Pittsfield boys won a pair of duals, topping Monument Mountain and Mount Greylock.
 
Higuera won the 100 (11.65) and 200 (24.07) and ran the anchor leg on Pittsfield's winning 4-by-100 relay (45.63).
 
Pittsfield's Connor Hayford was a double-winner in the throws, taking the shot put with a mark of 40-4 and the javelin with a throw of 160-9 that was more than 49-1/2 feet ahead of the field.
 
Kevin D'Aniello swept the hurdles for the Generals, winning the 110 in 17.35 and the 400 in 1:02.01.
 
Mount Greylock's boys got a pair of wins from Josh Cheung, who won the 800 in 2:10.63 and 1,600 in 4:38.66.
 
On the girls side, Jacqueline Wells won a pair of races for Mount Greylock, taking the 800 in 2:28.95 and the 1,600 in 5:28.92.
