LENOX, Mass. -- Mount Greylock freshman Ryan Keating outlasted Lenox’s Jack O’Brien in three sets to clinch a 3-2 win for the Mounties on Monday afternoon.

“Ryan Keating was the hero of the day, battling back after dropping the first set to get the match-clinching point and his first win of the season,” Mount Greylock coach Blair Dils said. “He mixed in short shots and lobs really well to keep his opponent off balance in the final two sets.”

Keating prevailed by scores of 6-7 (7-5), 6-4, 6-4, to win at No. 2 singles.

The Mounties also took a point at first singles, where Gabe Gerry defeated Rocco Piretti, 6-1, 6-2.

Michael Piretti won by default at third singles.

At first doubles, Lenox’s Alex Fuster and Owen Bayne defeated Altan McIntosh and Troy Michalak, 6-3, 6-1. The Mounties’ Josh Rudin and Drew Stanton earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Juan Manrique and Connor McCormack at second doubles.

Mount Greylock goes to Mount Everett on Tuesday. Lenox is at Monument Mountain on Wednesday.
