Mount Greylock Harriers Compete in Queensbury, N.Y.

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. -- Mount Greylock's Ollie Swabey and Andrew Petropulos posted top-10 finishes on Saturday at the Queensbury Invitational cross country tournament.
 
Competing in the Division 3 5,000-meter race, Swabey clocked a time of 16 minutes, 57 seconds to place seventh in a 129-runner field.
 
The Division 3 winner, Anthony Zazzaro of Stillwater, N.Y., finished in 15:46.5.
 
Petropulos placed ninth in 17:06 to help the Mounties place second in the 16-team division. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill of Central New York won the team title with 61 points; Mount Greylock finished with 69 points.
 
The Mounties had four finishers in the D3 girls 5K final and did not factor into the team scoring. Mount Greylock junior Vera de Jong was the top Mount Greylock finisher, placing 13th in 21:46.5. Ellie Lees of Delhi, N.Y., won the event in 19:20.80.
 
In the boys mile for ninth-graders, Mount Greylock placed ninth out of 17 schools. Patrick Holland led the way for the Mounties with a time of 9:59.30. Guilderland, N.Y.'s, Joseph Kosier won the race in 9:22.80.
 
Mount Greylock ninth-grader Paige Tudor placed 13th in the girls 1 mil run, hitting the finish line in 11:32.30, about 1:23 behind winner Andrea Sassatelli of Schagticoke, N.Y.'s, Hoosic Valley High School.
