Mount Greylock Girls, Boys Sweep Spartans

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Mount Greylock’s Alex Franz came from a set down to pick up her first career singles win at No. 2 on Monday as the Mount Greylock girls tennis team swept Monument Mountain, 5-0.

 

The Mounties’ No. 3, Maddie Love, also picked up her first career win on a day of firsts for Mount Greylock.

 

“Ella Murphy competing in her first match [at third doubles] this year won for the first time as well,” Mount Greylock coach John Jacobbe said. “Everyone stepped up today for us with some new players in new positions.”

 

Mount Greylock’s boys also cruised to a 5-0 win behind Tate Carothers and Oscar Heeringa at first and second singles, who did not drop a game in their straight-set wins.

 

The Mount Greylock boys (4-0) host Pope Francis on Tuesday afternoon. The Mounties’ girls (2-2) are at Lenox on Wednesday.

 

Monument Mountain’s boys host Lenox on Thursday; the Spartans’ girls host the Millionaires on Friday.
