WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Mount Greylock volleyball team defeated Pittsfield Wednesday evening in straight sets.

Not only did the Mounties record another victory, but junior setter Dagny Albano recorded her 1,000th career assist.

Prior to the game, she had a total of 415 for the season and needed 12 to record her 1,000th.

After a tight first set with Greylock taking it 25-21, Albano reached her milestone in the second set.

She recorded seven in the first and needed five more; Serena Chow had the kill on the milestone assist, which left the Mounties with a 16-12 lead.

"I was pretty confident coming into the game, because we have a team of great passers and really efficient hitters" Albano said. "I knew it was just going to happen when it happens, I was in no rush because we have a pretty steady team."

The Mounties then went on to take the second set 25-17.

Going into the third, Greylock quickly took a 5-0 lead, there serving giving the Generals a difficult time passing the ball.

But, the Generals were able to find a rhythm and tie it at 11, they then brought themselves back in the match and they were down 22-20.

Greylock pulled it out and took the set 25-22.

"I think our serving caused some problems for them," Greylock coach John Albano said. "They couldn't run their offense as much, but when they did they have some really good players over there and they were able to stay in it."

Dagny Albano finished the game with 21 assists.

Outside hitter Hope Willis had 9 kills; another Mountie who is close to reaching a milestone of 500 career kills. Chow had eight kills on the night.

Mount Greylock (13-3) is on the road Friday at East Longmeadow.
