Smith Leads Mount Greylock Girls at Nothchview
WINDSOR, Mass. -- Margo Smith led three Mount Greylock girls in the top four on Saturday morning at Nothchview Reservation as the Mounties picked up another Berkshire County Nordic League victory.
Smith finished the 4-kilometer classic race in 15 minutes, 37 seconds, edging her teammate Brandi Gill (15:41) for first place.
Mount Greylock finished with 15 points, putting it well ahead of runner up Lenox with 41.
On the boys side, the team race was a bit closer, with Mount Greylock earning 21 points to 34 by runner-up Northfield Mount Hermon.
NMH’s Toby Weed was the top boy, finishing in 12:50.
Mount Greylock got four top 10 finishes to keep its spot atop the podium. Cameron Castonguay led the way in third place (13:06). Ric Donati, Jakin Miller and Jacob Adams each scored for the Mounties’ boys.
The Mount Greylock girls got points from Niku Darafshi and Anna Butcher in fourth and eighth, resepectively.
Lenox’s girls were led by Alic Huth (16;12), with a fifth-place finish.
The action shifts to Williamstown next week as Mount Greylock hosts a meet on campus. The league’s skiers will be back at Notchview for the State Championships on Feb. 28.
