Mount Greylock's Seid, Wells Win on Home Course

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Mount Greylock’s girls took six of the top seven places with freshman Jacqueline Wells leading the way in the Mounties’ home opener on Wednesday.
 
Wells finished in 17 minutes, 22 seconds to beat runner-up Haley Crosier of Wahconah (17:59).
 
The next six girls across the finish line were Mounties Lilliana Wells, Hazel Scullin, Josephine Smith, Katherine Swann and Margo Smith.
 
The Mounties’ boys took five of the top six places in their race.
 
Once again, the winner was from the host school as Jesse Seid came in with a time of 14:44 ahead of runner-up Jacob Paris of Taconic (15:04).
 
Sam Culver, Owen Brandriss, Josh Cheung and Jacob Fink were third through sixth, respectively, for Mount Greylock.
 
Taconic got two more top-10 finishes from Brandon Pelkey and Mike LaFreniere in eighth and 10th places.
 
Lee’s boys were led by Sebastian Dowd-Smith, who was 18th in 17:13. Wahconah’s Carlton Brooks was 20th in 17:15.
 
Wahconah’s girls edged Taconic, 28-29, in the day’s closest dual meet.
 
Crosier was backed up by eighth- and 10th-place finishes by Danielle Orlando and Gabrielle Orlando, respectively.
 
Taconic was led by Mary Hayes (18:44) in 10th place. Lee’s top finisher was Anna Martin (21:59) in 37th place.
 
Girls team scores: Mount Greylock 19, Wahconah 43; Taconic 15, Lee 50; Wahconah 28, Taconic 29.
 
Boys team scores: Wahconah 21, Lee 37; Mount Greylock 15, Wahconah 49; Mount Greylock 19, Taconic 39; Taconic 19, Wahconah 44.
