Monument Mountain Boys, Girls Swim Past New Lebanon

NEW LEBANON, N.Y. -- Maddie Fife won a pair of events Thursday to lead the Monument Mountain girls swim team to a 73-20 win over New Lebanon.
 
The Monument Mountain boys prevailed, 66-21, as the Spartans swept the relays.
 
Fife won the 100-yard freestyle in 59.88 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:11.42.
 
Monument also got individual wins from Jenna Codey in the 200 free (2:25.07), Ashley Wellenkamp in the 200 individual medley (2:37.46), Aubrey Blanchard in the 50 free (27.32), Asa Stone in the 100 butterfly (1:02.96), Anna Rubino in the 500 free (5:53.82) and Kayla Sweet in the 100 breaststroke (1:30.23).
 
New Lebanon’s Alex Sotek dropped two seconds from her school record time in the 100 butterfly, finishing second in 1:04.99.
 
It was Senior Day for the New Lebanon/Berlin squad, which recognized the contributions of Jeffrey Miller and Catherine Roden. Each placed first or second in their individual events, and Miller qualified for the Section 2 meet with in the 100 and 200 free. He won the 200 free in 2:15.14.
 
Roden won the 100 breaststroke in 1:27.76.
 
Monument Mountain’s individual winners included Jacob Gray in the 200 IM (2:51.95), Walter Boyko in the 50 free (28.34), Sam Cybulski in the 100 fly (1:09.97), Colin Thorp in the 100 free (57.94), Nick Dillon in the 500 free (5:45.73) and Jimmy Jay Chassi in the 100 back (1:20.14).
 
 Monument Mountain hosts its Senior Day against Hudson on Friday.
