STAMFORD, Vt. -- Max Joyner carded a 43 Thursday at Stamford Valley Golf Course to lead Monument Mountain to a 191-192 win over Drury.

The Spartans (3-4) got a big lift from Brady Whalen, who shot a 49 from the No. 5 position in the lineup to provide the difference on a day when all four Blue Devils finished between 46 and 50.

“Everyone’s starting to come around,” Joyner said. “We’re starting to get a lot more low scores than we did earlier in the season.”

The fair weather the last couple of weeks has allowed the Spartans to get on the course in between matches and hone their skills for the stretch run.

“We’ve been doing a lot of practices,” Joyner said. “I’ve been able to score pretty consistently, and the whole team is getting a lot lower. Hopefully, we’ll get more wins after this.”

Noah Helmke (47) and Ben Shultis (52) rounded out the scoring for Monument Mountain.

Drury was led by Justyn Cowell’s 46.

Connor Kelly (47), Seth Dupee (49) and Davion Barton (50) each scored for the Blue Devils (0-8).

Drury will look for its first win on Friday when Mount Anthony Union visits.

Monument Mountain travels to Berkshire Hills to face Taconic on Friday.
