Purry, Wales Lead Pittsfield Boys Cross Country to Victory

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Pittsfield’s Amin Purry and Paul Wales finished 1-2 in Wednesday’s cross country race at Hoosac Valley to lead the Generals to a 23-32 decision over Monument Mountain.
 
Purry beat the field with a time of 17 minutes, 19 seconds; Wales came home in 17:32.
 
The Spartans got a fourth-place showing from Peter Larochelle (18:33) and top-10 performances from Mike Goretti and Andrew McCarthy.
 
In the girls race, Monument Mountain’s Jasmin Johannsdottir was the winner in a time of 20:27, leading her Spartans to a 23-32 dual meet win over Pittsfield.
 
After Johannsdottir crossed the finish line, the next four places went to Lenox, led by Marion Huth (20:49) in second. Maggie Sorrentino, Ava Bachman and Tate Morrison ran third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
 
Pittsfield was led by Cameron Diehl, who placed sixth in 23:00.
 
Host Hoosac Valley got ninth- and 10th-place finishes from Jamie Barthe (23:33) and Natiya Cili. Mount Everett’s girls were led by Carly Duval in 28th place with a time of 25:43.
 
Mount Everett’s boys were led by Grayson Duval in 11th place with a time of 19:22.
 
Lenox’s Maxime Leger was ninth in 19:21, and Justin Levesque led Hoosac Valley with a time of 22:20, good for 43rd overall.
 
Boys team scores: Mount Everett 15, Hoosac Valley 50; Lenox 19, Mount Everett 42; Pittsfield 21, Lenox 34; Pittsfield 23, Monument Mountain 32.
 
Girls team scores: Hoosac Valley 15, Mount Everett 50; Lenox 15, Mount Everett 50; Lenox 16, Pittsfield 39; Monument Mountain 23, Pittsfield 32.
