PHS's Mooney, Wahconah's Dafoe Shine in Dual Meet

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Liam Mooney qualified for the Western Massachusetts championships in two events to lead the Pittsfield boys to a 74-8 win over Wahconah at the Boys and Girls Club.
 
Mooney won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 25.6 seconds, and the 100 butterfly in 1:02.0 to qualify for the sectional meet. He also swam legs on Pittsfield’s victorious 200 free relay and 200 medley relay quartets.
 
Pittsfield’s Lucas Godwin qualified for Western Mass with a winning time of 1:06.3 in the 100 backstroke. Hayden Plouffe was a double winner for the Generals (2-0), taking first in the 50 free (27.1) and the 100 free (1:04.4).
 
Pittsfield’s girls also improved to 2-0 this season with a 63-31 win.
 
Hannah King and Abby Marsh each won two events for the Generals.
 
King took the 200 free (2:23.0) and 500 free (6:35.3). Marsh won the 100 free (1:04.6) and 100 breast stroke (1:25.1). Each also swam a leg on a victorious relay — Marsh in the 200 medley relay and King in the 400 free relay.
 
Wahconah won the 200 FR.
 
Michaela Dafoe swam anchor on that quartet and excelled as an individual, qualifying for Western Mass in wins in the 50 free and 100 back.
