Love a Runner-Up in Mile at State Meet

NORWELL, Mass. – Lenox’s Dennis Love followed his third-place finish in Thursday’s 2-mile run with a second-place showing in the mile on Saturday at the Division 5 State Championships.
 
Love finished in 4 minutes, 24.59 seconds to finish just 4-tenths of a second behind state champion Lekan Sotonwa of Middleboro.
 
Love’s performance at the meet helped the Millionaires tie for 14th place out of 35 teams earning points in the event.
 
Lenox’s Ian Bridges Saturday placed seventh in the 400 meters.
 
Pittsfield’s Owen Klatka Saturday placed third in the state in the high jump, clearing 6 feet.
 
In the girls meet on Saturday, Lenox’s Alice Culver, who was second in Thursday’s 2-mile run, placed third in the mile with a time of 5:15.19. She also ran a leg on the Millionaires’ 4-by-800 relay, which placed seventh on Saturday.
 
The Lenox girls placed 17th in the team competition.
