King Cruises to Podium at State Ski Meet

PRINCETON, Mass. — Lenox’s Ella King placed third in the state in the giant slalom at the MIAA Alpine Skiing Championships on Tuesday at Wachusett Mountain.

King clocked a time of 57.99 seconds, .29 behind champion Jillian Scherpa of Agawam.

 

In the slalom, King finished in 11th place with a time of 39.96.

 

The top Berkshire County finisher in the slalom was Pittsfield’s Ali Williamson, who finished sixth in 39.33. The morning’s slalom race was won by Lizzy Murphy of Lincoln-Sudbury, who finished in 38.37.

 

Micaela Bartlett of Monument Mountain place 10th in the slalom (39.78) and sixth in the GS (58.98).

 

On the boys side, Wahconah’s Tanner Hill placed 32nd in the slalom with a time of 41.24. Bailey Laidman of Dover-Sherborn won the event in 37.75.

 

In the boys GS, Hill and Taconic’s Cody Latimer finished just outside the top 50 in the 146-racer field. Hill crossed the finish line in 59.57. Latimer clocked a time of 59.57. The GS was won by St. Mary’s Matt Masciadrelli in a time of 54.67.
