Drury Pulls Away Late in Tourney Opener

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The Drury baseball team exploded for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on Monday to put away Franklin Tech, 9-1, in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class C Tournament.
 
Connor Hinkell struck out 14 and scattered four hits in a complete-game effort for top-seeded Drury, which moves on to face the winner of Tuesday’s game between No. 5 Mount Greylock and No. 4 Westfield Tech.
 
Noah Arnold led Drury offensively, going 2-for-3 with a double and scoring two runs at the top of the lineup.
 
Carson Rylander went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Bradeyn Durant doubled and drove in a run.
 
Brayden Canales came off the bench to go 1-for-1 at the plate and drive in a pair of runs.
 
Drury improved to 15-3 this spring with its 12th straight win.
