Aaron Livsey Pitches 9-Inning Gem, Hornets Explode for 7 in 11th

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The McCann Tech baseball team scored seven runs in the top of the 11th inning Tuesday to earn an 11-2 win over Smith Vocational.
 
The victory gave McCann Tech 10 on the season and qualified it for the state tournament.
 
Aaron Livsey and Smith Voc starter James Lavalle dueled for most of the afternoon as their teams went scoreless through nine innings of play.
 
Livsey struck out 10 and scattered five hits in nine scoreless innings.
 
Lavallee struck out 12 in 7-? innings on the mound.
 
In the 10th, each team broke through for a pair of runs against the other’s bullpen.
 
And in the 11th, Troy Tassone hit a two-run single in the middle of a seven-run rally for the Hornets. Tassone later stole home to cap the inning.
 
Collin Booth stayed on the mound for his second inning of work in the bottom of the 11th and pitched around a one out single, getting the final out on a fly ball to Lukas Rylander at first.
 
Booth went 3-for-5 at the plate. Rylander hit an RBI double in the top of the 10th.
 
McCann Tech (10-6) finishes the regular season on Wednesday at Hoosac Valley.
