McCann Tech, Rylander Rally Past Mount Greylock in Eight

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Lukas Rylander hit a bases-clearing triple in a seven-run, eighth-inning rally Friday to lead the McCann Tech baseball team to a 12-6 win over Mount Greylock.
 
Rylander also picked up the win on the mound for the Hornets, allowing four earned runs in seven-plus innings of work. He struck out eight and walked five before giving the ball to Nick Gillman to finish the bottom of the eight.
 
It was a 5-5 game heading to extra innings.
 
Dylan Turner led off the eighth with a double and went to second on Troy Tassone’s infield single.
 
Tassone then stole second before Jacob Howland hit a sacrifice fly to give McCann Tech a 6-5 lead.
 
Brodie Hayden’s RBI double plated Tassone to give the Hornets a two-run lead. And Zach Howland and Gillman each singled to load the bases for Rylander with one out.
 
Austin Buda went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs for McCann Tech.
 
Mount Greylock’s Jameson Bayliss went 2-for-4 with a double. Everett Bayliss and Tommy Art also doubled in a five-hit attack for the Mounties.
 
Jameson Bayliss went seven innings on the hill for Mount Greylock, striking out 14, walking five and leaving with the game tied, 5-5.
Mount Greylock (7-10) finishes the regular season at home against Monument Mountain on Friday.
 
McCann Tech (11-5) awaits its opponent in the quarter-finals in next week’s Western Mass tournament.
