NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The McCann Tech baseball team hit their way to a 8-0 win Thursday afternoon over Westfield Vocational, a team that has taken four wins from the Hornets in the last two years.

After recording a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the sixth, the Hornets extended their lead from 3-0 to the final 8-0 margin. Charles Bohl was responsible for three of those five runs. With two outs and two men on base he hit a three-run home run deep to center field, bringing in Sean Davis and Austin Miller.

"Hitting wise we've been hitting it really well this year," McCann coach Pat Ryan said. "We've been double digits with hits and that's the key."

Austin Miller pitched all seven innings for McCann, throwing five strikeouts.

"Miller finished up Putnam yesterday, which we didn't get the win, but he came out today and had his stuff," Ryan said. "He had a low pitch count which is great for him."

After scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, McCann came out in the top of the seventh and closed the game out with a 1-2-3 inning, advancing its record to 4-1 and earning its first home win for the season.

The Hornets will travel to Commerce Saturday morning for a 11 a.m. start.
