ATHOL, Mass. – Jacob Kreis went 2-for-3 with three runs batted in on Wednesday to lead the Mount Everett baseball team to a 10-0, five-inning win over Athol.

Heyden Cutlip was 2-for-2 and scored a pair of runs, and Brady Carpenter doubled in an eight-hit Eagles attack.

Cutlip also got the start on the mound, striking out a pair in two innings before Mount Everett coach Dan Lanoue got the rest of his staff some work.

Mount Everett used four pitchers in the game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

“It was nice to get back on the field,” Lanoue said. “We have not played a game since April 9th. We played solid defense. The game dictated that we could get some work for four of our guys.

Heyden “had good offspeed stuff to go with his fastball command.”

Mount Everett (2-1) is off again until Tuesday when it goes to Connecticut to face Housatonic Valley Regional.
