SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Brady Carpenter went 3-for-4 with a double Sunday to lead the Mount Everett baseball team to a 10-0 win over Rockport in the first round of the Division 5 State Tournament.

Carpenter drove in a pair of runs in the six-inning win.

Brodie Kinna and Darius Taliaferro each went 2-for-3 with a double, and Matt Lowe had three hits and scored three runs.

Lowe also went the distance on the mound, striking out five and scattering six hits.

“A great overall game from everyone,” Mount Everett coach Dan Lanoue said. “Offensively we had 14 hits. We were clean in the field. It was a great way to start the tournament.

“Matt Lowe was dominant on the mound. He mixed up his pitches well against a good hitting Rockport team.”

Mount Everett (12-7) advances to the Round of 16, where it will face the winner of Monday’s game between Hopkins Academy and Monson.
