Rachiele, Womble Lead Taconic Past Belchertown in Quarters

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Austin Rachiele ripped a three-run triple to left in the bottom of the sixth to break the game open and send the Taconic baseball team on to a 6-1 win over Belchertown on Monday in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 quarter-finals.
 
Christian Womble went the distance on the mound, striking out 13 and allowing just two hits to pick up the win.
 
Cedric Rose and Brendan Stannard each went 1-for-2 at the plate, and Rose and Womble each doubled.
 
Top-seeded Taconic (17-4) moves into Wednesday’s sectional semifinal in Greenfield against No. 12 Easthampton (12-8), an 8-1 winner over Hampshire on Monday.
