Taconic Baseball Opens with Road Win

AGAWAM, Mass. -- Christian Womble struck out three in two innings of scoreless relief to close out a 5-4 win over Agawam for the Taconic baseball team in Thursday’s season-opener.
 
At the plate, Womble went 2-for-3 with a double.
 
Jake Harrington drove in a pair of runs, and Leo Arace and Jake Risley each had a hit in a five-hit Taconic attack.
 
Anton Lazits had the start on the mound and went four innings allowing a pair of runs. Brendan Stannard gave up two runs - one earned - in one inning of relief before turning the ball over to Womble.
 
Taconic (1-0) goes to East Longmeadow on Friday.
