Lazits Throws One-Hitter in Taconic's Road Win

CHESHIRE, Mass. — Anton Lazits struck out eight in a complete-game, one-hitter Friday to lead the Taconic baseball team to a 9-0 win over Hoosac Valley.
 
With the win, the defending Division 1 state champions punched their ticket for the Western Massachusetts sectional tournament.
 
Lazits helped his own cause with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, driving in a pair of runs.
 
Christian Womble led an 11-hit Taconic attack, going 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Austin Rachiele was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
 
John Krol had the lone hit for Hoosac Valley. Luc Trombley took the loss on the mound, allowing just three earned runs in 5-2/3 innings of work.
 
Hoosac Valley (3-13) hosts Mount Everett on Monday.
 
Taconic (10-4) goes to Lenox on Monday.
