Bernardo Leads Wahconah Past Hoosac Valley

DALTON, Mass. -- Zak Bernardo went 2-for-3 with an RBI Saturday to lead the Wahconah baseball team to a 5-3 win over Hoosac Valley in the first round of the Wahconah Tournament.
 
Chad Howes doubled in a run for Wahconah, which rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth to overcome a 3-2 deficit.
 
Caden Frazier earned the win on the mound with 2-⅔ innings of relief work. He struck out three, walked one and allowed one hit and no runs to get the “W.”
 
Jon Krol homered and drove in three runs for Hoosac Valley (0-1). He also pitched 1-⅔ innings of scoreless relief.
 
The Hurricanes were to face Monson later on Saturday in the tournament’s consolation game.
 
Wahconah moved on to the championship game, where it beat Monument Mountain, 7-5.
