Traversa Leads Pittsfield Baseball Past Wahconah

DALTON, Mass. -- Joe Traversa went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles Wednesday to lead the Pittsfield baseball team to an 8-0 win over Wahconah.
 
Traversa drove in three runs for the Generals, who improved to 3-0.
 
Ryan LaPierre went 2-for-2 with a double and a pair of RBIs, and Ian Benoit drove in two runs in the win.
 
Christian Marchbanks earned the win with 2-⅓ innings of one-hit relief of starter Carter Matthews, who left after allowing two hits and one walk in three innings of work. Danny DiMassimo finished up on the mound.
 
Wahconah got a double from Tanner Hill and hits from Jake Gai, Jake Harte and Chad Howes.  Caden Frazier and Gabe Verdi combined to allow just two earned runs on the mound.
 
Wahconah (3-1) hosts Mohawk on Friday.
 
Pittsfield goes to Taunton on Friday.
