South Hadley Holds Down Mount Greylock Baseball's Offense
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Matt Butler struck out three and allowed four hits in six innings on Friday to lead the South Hadley baseball team to a 2-0 win over Mount Greylock.
Emery Rotter went 1-for-3 and stole a base for the Mounties.
Jesse Thompson went the distance on the mound for Mount Greylock, striking out three, walking none and allowing one earned run.
“Jesse Thomson pitched a complete game gem,” Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “Unfortunately, we just couldn’t plate any runs to help him out even though we outhit our opponent.
“Charlie Bayliss was impressive tonight with a great over the shoulder catch he was able to run down in center field off a blast that looked like an easy double off the bat. He also had his first varsity hit. Anthony Chum also got his first hit of the year in the last inning to put the pressure on and give us a chance.”
Mount Greylock (1-2) hosts Wahconah on Wednesday.
