Messina Walk-Off Single Lifts Mount Greylock Past Southwick

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Cal Messina ripped a one-out single to right field in the bottom of the seventh to plate Evan Sheridan and give the Mount Greylock baseball team a 4-3 win over Southwick on Thursday.
 
Messina also went the distance on the mound, striking out five and not allowing an earned run.
 
The Mounties had leads of 2-0 and 3-2, but the visiting Rams tied it in the top of the sixth.
 
The winning rally started when Sheridan drew a pinch-hit nine-pitch walk.
 
After he stole second, Cole Wotjkowski bunted him to third to set the stage for Messina's game-winner.
 
Reece Gillette went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Alex Backiel was 3-for-3 with a double.
 
Mount Greylock (12-6) is at Pittsfield on Friday before closing the regular season at home against Taconic on Saturday.
