Fried, Generals Down Minnechaug
WILBRAHAM, Mass. – Morrie Fried homered twice and drove in three runs Thursday to lead the Pittsfield baseball team to a 12-3 win over Minnechaug.
Jackson Almeida went 2-for-3 with a double, and Matt Egan and David Wildgoose each doubled with two runs batted in.
The Generals generated their 12 runs on eight hits and eight walks along with three errors from the Falcons.
Simon Mele got the win on the mound, striking out seven in five innings. Jason Fields finished up with two innings of scoreless relief.
“Mele pitched a great game today against a strong Minnechaug team,” Pittsfield coach Drew Pearce said. “Fried continued his torrid pace with his third and fourth bombs of the year. Almeida stayed hot with two knocks and Egan is heating up at the top of the order.
“We are going to celebrate that one and look forward to seven of our next nine at Clapp Park and all nine games at home in the Berkshires.
Pittsfield (7-2) is off until Monday when it hosts Bennington, Vt.’s, Mount Anthony Union.
