Codey, Generals Blank Westfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Jason Codey struck out five and allowed one hit in six innings on Wednesday to lead the Pittsfield baseball team to a 5-0 win over Westfield on Buddy Pellerin Field.
 
Codey walked just two before giving the ball to Jack Bellefontaine, who pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning.
 
Matt Egan went 2-for-3 with a double, and Simon Mele doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the Generals, who got a 2-for-4 day at the plate from Morrie Fried.
 
David Wildgoose was 2-for-2 in a 10-hit Pittsfield attack.
 
“Great win for us today against an always tough Westfield team,” Pittsfield coach Drew Pearce said. “Codey was lights out on the mound and Fried, Egan and Wildgoose continue to produce on offense.
 
Pittsfield (9-2) hosts Auburn on Friday.
