PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Jackson Almeida went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs batted in Friday to lead the Pittsfield baseball team to an 11-1, five-inning win over Auburn at Clapp Park.

The Generals earned their 10th win and clinched a berth in the state tournament with the victory.

Cam Hillard was 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs on a day when the Generals collected five extra-base hits.

Jason Codey and Morrie Fried each tripled, and Matthew Egan hit a double. Fried, like Almeida, collected three RBIs.

“Great offensive day for us against a good arm,” Pittsfield coach Drew Pearce said. “We had tough at-bats all day long and Fried, Hillard and Almeida led us. Codey was on base early and often.”

Simon Mele went the distance on the mound, striking out six and walking two.

Pittsfield (10-2) goes to Wahconah on Tuesday.
