Pittsfield Downs Monument Mountain in Tourney Opener
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Matthew Egan Monday struck out eight in six scoreless innings on the mound to lead the Pittsfield baseball team to a 7-1 win over Monument Mountain in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class B Tournament.
“Matt Egan pitched a gem today,and [Jason] Codey, [David] Wildgoose and [Cam] Hillard led the charge on offense,” Pittsfield coach Drew Pearce said. “Good team win.”
Codey went 3-for-3 with a home run and a double.
Wildgoose was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Hillard was 2-for-2 and drove in a run.
Top-seeded Pittsfield (15-3) is home in the regional semi-finals on Wednesday against Frontier, a 7-1 winner over Belchertown on Monday.
