PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Will Davidson struck out 14 hitters in six innings of work Saturday to lead the Hanover baseball team to a 9-0 win over Pittsfield in the Division 3 State Quarter-Finals at Clapp Park.

Davidson scattered seven hits before giving the ball to Aidan Van Dyk, who struck out the side around three walks in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win.

"Tough loss for us today," Pittsfield coach Drew Pearce said. "Credit to their pitcher, he threw a great game."
Cole Hendrickson led the Hawks offensively, going 3-for-4 with a double and four runs batted in.

Pittsfield got a pair of doubles from Morrie Fried, who went 2-for-3 at the plate before drawing an intentional walk with runners on first and second and nobody out in the seventh inning.

Pittsfield used four pitchers in the loss.

Jay Codey got the start. Matthew Egan settled things down after Hanover scored five runs in the first two innings and lasted four innings. Cooper Reed and Cam Hillard finished up.

Pittsfield finishes the season with a record of 20-4.

"I’m very proud of this team, our seniors and how they play the game," Pearce said. "Their third 20-win season, third Western Mass title. They have helped to set a standard of winning and getting the job done in the classroom."
