Pittsfield Generals Sweep County Umpires' Post-Season Awards

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Three Pittsfield High School seniors this summer were recognized by the Berkshire County Baseball Umpires Association with its season-ending awards.

 

Jason Codey was named the Rich Pothier Award as the county's most valuable player after going 6-2 on the mound with a 2.07 earned run average for the Western Massachusetts Class B Champion Generals.

 

Morrie Fried, a .386 hitter with a team-high six home runs, was given the Ray Pierson Sportsmanship Award.

 

The umpires group gave its Tom Riley 10th Player Award to David Wildgoose, who batted .406 with a team-high 18 walks.
