Matthews Powers Pittsfield Baseball to Win at Central

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Carter Matthews went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs Friday to lead the Pittsfield baseball team to an 11-3 win over Springfield Central.
 
The Generals spotted Central a 3-0 lead midway through the second inning before bouncing back with three in the bottom of the frame.
 
Jon Halse went 2-for-2 and scored a couple of runs, and Ian Benoit doubled in a 12-hit Pittsfield attack.
 
Benoit also earned the win on the mound striking out five and walking one in five innings of work.
 
Christian Marchbanks finished up with two perfect innings of relief, getting strikeouts for five of his six outs.
 
Pittsfield (2-0) goes to Drury on Monday.
