Cracolici RBI Lifts Pittsfield in Extra Innings

TAUNTON, Mass. -- Joe Cracolici singled up the middle to score Ian Benoit in the top of the eighth as the Pittsfield baseball team earned a 3-2 win over Taunton on Friday.
 
Benoit led off extra innings by earning a walk and moved into scoring position on a passed ball. A Hunter Potash sacrifice bunt sent Benoit to third with one out.
 
Cracolici followed with an RBI single to break the tie after Taunton came back from a 2-0 deficit to force extra innings.
 
Benoit earned the win on the mound with two innings of one-hit relief after starter Potash went six innings, allowing one earned run.
 
Potash went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI to help his cause. Benoit was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and scored twice.
 
Pittsfield’s day Friday also included a 13-2 blowout of Barnstable.
 
Potash was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored in that win. Benoit also doubled and drove in a pair.
 
Ryan LaPierre and Danny DiMassimo split time on the hill. LaPierre struck out seven in five innings. DiMassimo threw two innings of no-hit relief, striking out three.
 
Pittsfield (5-0) hosts Hoosac Valley on Tuesday on Pellerin Field at Clapp Park.
